17. The Season is Almost Over


the season is almost over
here in california
so start melting the butter
then begin sautéing the onions and garlic
making sure the onions are tender
then add a little flour
remembering to constantly keep whisking and whisking
start adding in the chicken stock
keep whisking and whisking
as your mixture starts thickening
keep stirring and stirring
now you ready for the good part
hear comes the artichoke hearts, then the spinach
then the parmesan cheese, yogurt and cayenne
then pause for just a moment ...
... give thanks to the god zeus, for some say,
he created the delicious artichoke
created it out of his fickle mortal lover, cynara
lets also give thanks to the queen of the artichoke
this we know to be true ... ms. marilyn monroe ...
for her abundance, deliciousness

and for representing such a great vegetable
we “mortals” really appreciated this 

and a good parade too
season with salt and pepper ... then serve
