Here is a small gift, taking December off ...

Some of Mark Twain's notable quotes:

"Name the greatest of all inventors, Accident."

"Don't let schooling interfere with your education."

"Go to Heaven for the climate, Hell for the company."

"Necessity is the mother of taking chances."

"Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow."

"You can't depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus."

"If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and man."

"It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog."

"Heaven goes by favor. If it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in."

"I don't give a damn for a man that can only spell a word one way."

"When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years."

"Everyone talks about the weather, but no one does anything about it."

"There is a charm about the forbidden that makes it unspeakably desirable."

"[The Bible] has noble poetry in it... and some good morals and a wealth of obscenity, and upwards of a thousand lies."

"If we were supposed to talk more than listen we would have been given two mouths and one ear."

"Now and then we had a hope that if we lived and were good, God would permit us to be pirates."

"All right, then, I'll go to hell."

"The dog is a gentleman; I hope to go to his heaven not man's."

"Faith is believing what you know ain't so."

"Don't look at the world with your hands in your pockets. To write about it you have to reach out and touch it."

"Humor is mankind's greatest blessing."

That's it for now.
